United States of America Passport Photo Requirements

The passport photo requirements America (United States); these differ from the Dutch standard passport photo format. Depending on your passport, green card, USCIS (INS) or visa application, the relevant agency may also request a digital version of the photo in addition to the printout. Of course you can purchase both a printed and a digital version from us.

Cost of passport photo, visa photo or green card photo for the United States

We are able to create an American passport photo for as low as € 15,-. With it, you will receive 4 photos or a single, digital variant. The printed photos will be cut and neatly packaged in a small suitcase for you.  

In case you also need a digital variant of the photo alongside your prints, it will cost an additional €2,50. This variant will be sent to your email address. 

You can simply walk in without an appointment at our studio over on Hugo de Grootplein 17 in Amsterdam.  The passport photos will be made for you immediately.   

Though it is not necessary, an appointment can always be made so you can make sure that you can be helped at a specific time if you are currently unavailable. 

Requirements US photos for passport & visa:

Bear a good resemblance Only have a white or off-white background Have the following dimensions, 50 mm wide x 50 mm high (2x2inch) The height from chin to crown is 25 mm – 35 mm (1 inch x 1-3 / 8 inches) Free from head covering or dark glasses. If you wear a head covering for religious reasons, you should at least leave your ears visible. Be of good quality Positioned in the center of the passport photo No reflections on the skin or in the glasses and no shadows Natural look, no smiling

Digital delivery of the US online visa:

Size between 600 px X 600 px and 1200 px X 1200 px sRGB 24 bit color depth required jpg format file must not be larger than 240Kb

Online digital application for a green card (the same as the online visa):

Adjustment in requirements:

We are aware of the latest developments in the rules and requirements that a country imposes on the passport photo. It is possible that a country decides to adjust the requirements for taking a passport photo. To be on the safe side, always take the form that you get from your consulate with you when you have your passport photo taken. In general, the consulate is the first to receive the new rules. This way you always have an up-to-date photo.
